It is natural to repeat the same life patterns if we do not understand the reasons for them. Bridge to Better offers psychometric testing that can shed light on your attachment style within relationships, your default coping style when you experience distress, your vulnerability to distressing emotions, and the way you experience the actions of others based on your personality. This information can speed up the therapy process by prompting conversations that you might not otherwise have insight to.
In-Person appointments are held in the Wholistic Health Center located across from the Jane subway station in beautiful Bloor West Village and online sessions are an option for your convenience.
Our fees are not covered by OHIP. Many insurance providers cover the costs of psychotherapy. Please check with your insurance provider about your individual coverage.
During your first appointment, we will discuss what prompted you to seek therapy at this time. This will help us understand where to focus at first. We will explain the approach and try to help you undersatnd some of the reasons you feel the way you do based on our understanding of anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship cycles and family patterns.
Importantly, we will review "informed consent" so that you understand the important elements of therapy.
This depends on many factors, including your "presenting concerns", goals, and in some cases, access to your emotions.
Usually, understanding what is happenning within yourself through psychoeducation is a source of relief. With anxiety, anger, ADHD, and family patterns this can occur in the first session.
No you do not need a diagnosis or referral to seek therapeutic help or skills coaching.
This also depends. We can provide research that gives guidelines and ranges and can work with you to design a treatment plan that works within your constraints.
Our assessments can reveal behavioural patterns, responses to anxiety, causes of depressive feelings, and relationship needs that you may not be aware of. This can move therapy forward by a few sessions by highlighting the findings as areas to discuss.
